Grammys announced its nominees in Nashville on Wednesday night during a primetime concert special

six nominations each.
Jay-Z, Kanye West and R&B breakthrough Frank Ocean also earned six nominations, with
Fun.’s and Ocean’s including the double coup of Album of the Year and Best New Artist.

DAVE BRUBECK, JAZZ COMPOSER, PIANIST, DEAD AT 91.
Jazz composer and pianist Dave Brubeck, whose
pioneering style in pieces such as “Take Five”
caught listeners’ ears with
exotic, challenging rhythms,
has died. Brubeck had a
career
that
spanned almost all American jazz since World War II.
He formed The Dave Brubeck Quartet in 1951 and
helped define the swinging, smoky rhythms of 1950s and `60s club jazz.

INSTAGRAM GIVES TWITTER THE BIRD
: From now on,
you may notice Instagram photos appearing oddly on Twitter.
This is
not a bug
. It’s because
Instagram doesn’t want to play nice with Twitter anymore.
In a post to Twitter’s status blog on Wednesday morning,
the company notified users that Instagram has disabled its integration with Twitter Cards,
the technology Twitter uses to display multimedia inside of tweets on the service.
“We want to direct users to where the content lives originally,” Instagram chief Kevin Systrom said at the LeWeb conference on Wednesday in Paris.”

According to a story by CNET’s Greg Sandoval,

major labels are no closer to a deal
for a streaming service
than they were
a few months ago.
According to the report, which cites music industry sources spoken to in recent weeks that
“the deal that Apple has offered for iRadio has left the major record companies –
– Sony Music Entertainment, Warner Music Group and Universal Music Group —
cold.”
